京都大学・大阪大学・神戸大学のデジタルアーカイブにおける研究支援の取り組みと課題
日本の関西地方にある京都大学・大阪大学・神戸大学の3大学図書館は2023年に協定を結び、電子資料拡充やオープンサイエンスを中心に協力している。
本発表では、３館のデジタルアーカイブの特色を紹介するとともに、研究支援の観点から、これまでの取り組みと今後の課題について報告する。
京都大学のデジタルアーカイブは国内有数の規模を誇る。日本の古典籍だけでなく、明治期に日本で活動した建築家ジョサイア・コンドルの建築図面や近代日本の高等教育における西洋知識吸収の様相を示す近代教育掛図なども公開している。
大阪大学では、過去に研究科が運営していた貴重書公開サイトを図書館のデジタルアーカイブに統合し、利便性の向上を図っている。また、図書館資料だけではなく、教員がフィールドワークを通じて撮影した写本や絵画の公開を行っている。
神戸大学は、1995年の阪神・淡路大震災の発生直後から市民の協力のもとで震災関連資料を収集している震災文庫や、戦前期の希少な新聞を含む新聞記事文庫といった特色あるコレクションのデジタル化・公開を進めており、シチズン・サイエンスの発展にも寄与しうるものとなっている。
3館とも、公開データが国内外の研究に利活用されることを目標としており、利用促進の工夫として解説や翻刻テキストの追加、二次利用条件の表示といった取り組みを行っているが、まだ発展途上であり、3館協力での課題解決を目指している。
Research Support Initiatives and Challenges faced by the Digital Archives of Kyoto University, the University of Osaka, and Kobe University
Three university libraries in the Kansai region of Japan, Kyoto University, the University of Osaka, and Kobe University, signed an agreement in 2023 to closely cooperate with each other to promote expansion of electronic resources and open science.
This presentation will introduce the features of the digital archives of our libraries and report on our past efforts and future challenges from the perspective of research support.
The digital archive of Kyoto University is one of the largest in Japan. In addition to classical Japanese manuscripts, the archive contains architectural drawings by Josiah Conder, an architect invited to Japan during the Meiji period, and modern educational charts that show how Western knowledge was introduced in higher education in Japan in the modern era.
The University of Osaka has integrated its graduate school website containing rare books with the library's digital archive for added convenience. In addition to library materials, the university also makes available images of manuscripts and paintings taken by faculty members through fieldwork.
Kobe University has been digitizing its unique collections including the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake Disaster Materials Collection and the Newspaper Clippings Collection, which contains earthquake-related materials collected with the cooperation of citizens after the earthquake in 1995 and rare newspapers from the prewar period, respectively. Kobe University aims to contribute to the development of citizen science by making these materials accessible to the public.
The goal of our three libraries is to provide easily accessible data for researchers in Japan and around the world. Our ongoing efforts include adding explanations and reprinted texts, and indicating conditions for reuse, but we are still halfway through. We are working together to address challenges and provide better library services together.
