Dear colleagues,

The new FutureLearn course Global Codex: Hidden Stories of Books Across Cultures invites participants to explore books as historical artefacts, examining the clues hidden in their bindings, paper, illustrations, fibres, annotations, and other physical features.

Travelling across Japan, Dunhuang, Europe, the Greek and Islamicate worlds, and Southeast Asia, the course reveals how books were created, circulated, and cherished across cultures and centuries.

The course is led by Professor Takahiro Sasaki and Professor Satoko Tokunaga of Keio University and was jointly developed by Keio University, the British Library, and the University of Cambridge, in collaboration with the Dunhuang Academy.
